Ozark County Circuit Court Minutes, Book B, page 231, dated Jan. 30, 1869; John Friend of Ozark County, MO adopted PollyAnn, Jemimah, and Sara Nety, minor children of Elias & Elizabeth Friend, deceased

It is said that Sarah was blind, She had backed into a stove and was set on fire.
She died in the hospital. Cause of death was Pnuemonia, but it confirms burns to her head, chest and arms.

In the Romance news there was this line.
Mrs Sarah Besse of Beebe passed away at the hospital in Searcy as a results of burns suffered at her home several days ago when her clothing caught fire. She was laid to rest in the cemetery here last Thursday afternoom.

Sarah BESSE? Who she, why was she in the Romance cemetery? No head stone? I went back in the papers .


March 6 1937

Beebe, March 5, Mrs. G. W. Bessa, aged blind woman, suffered burns that probably will prove fatal when her clothing caugh fire from a stove in her tent dewlling yesterday. Her husband and son were absent when her clothing caught. She made ineffectual efforts to extinguis the fames with a bucket of water and by rolling on the ground.

March 9 1937

Mrs. Sarah Besse, age 71 and blind, of Beebe, was seriously burned on her back and hips last week when her clothing accidentaily caugh fire. She was brought to the Wakenight hospital yesterday for treatmemt. Her condition is serions.
