Trinity Methodist Church, Bordentown NJ. June 7, 1896. Charles Nelson, adult, was baptized.

Charles was a NJ volunteer in the Spanish American War. He enlisted at Sea Girt 2 July 1898 and served in Co. L, 4th NJ Volunteer Infantry. He was discharged 6 April 1899 in Greenville SC.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a Pennsylvania Railroad engineer for over 40 years and a longtime member of Trinity Methodist Church in Bordentown. He and his wife are buried in the Groveville Methodist Churchyard.

In 1905, this young family was living on Bank Street in Bordentown. Charles F Nelson was a Rail Road Fireman. With him were his wife Rebecca and sons William C, Joseph R and James A Nelson, also Rebecca's father Joseph Nelson.

1910, Spring Street. Burlington Co, 44th dist page 1. Charles F Nelson, age 29, fireman on the railroad. Wife Rebecca age 27. Children Charles Wm, Raymond J, James A, John H, Earnest H. Andrew Nelson age 41 is a boarder.

Next door is Mary B Dickson. Her boarder is Charles Wm. Thomas, age 58, an engineer on the canal.

1930 census, they are on the first page of the 3rd Ward. Charles head of household, real estate worth $4000. He is 49, Rebecca is 47. Age at first marriage, he 19, she 17. He is an engineer on the Pennsylvania Railroad. Son Raymond is a something (unreadable) engineer on the Delaware River. He is 27, age at marriage 19. Pearl is also 27. Their children are Joseph C age 9 and Raymond E age 6. Also in the home are James A age 26, a truckdriver, John H age 24, working in a machine shop, and Charles' brother Andrew age 60, a laborer in a nursery.
