William Dickson died when daughter Edith was about nine months old. He had gone to Trenton to a ball game, and was running to catch the street car when he tripped and fell on the tracks and was run down by a street car coming the other way.
The microfilm copy of the Bordentown Register for 1917 is missing the last two weeks in November and all of the December issues. The Trenton Times for November 30, 1917, carries a front page account of the fatal accident.
