George Kerr appears in a family photo of James Nelson and his children, taken at the home of George in about 1899, judging from the size of James Lawson and Bill Carter, who appear in the photo as small boys.
According to stories remembered by Bill Stephens, George was at the time courting James' daughter Mame Carter.
