Notes for Rudolph John (Rudy) PANNUNZIO

Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - March 30, 2004
Deceased Name: Rudolph John (Rudy) Pannunzio 1925 ~ 2004
Our husband, daddy, son, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle and friend, Rudolph John (Rudy) Pannunzio, passed away peacefully from this life on Thursday, March 25, 2004. He died at LDS Hospital of complications due to surgery, surrounded by his loving family. Rudy was 78 years old.

Rudy was born December 27, 1925 in Tooele, Utah in the home that his father built and in which he was living until the time of his death. He was the son of John and Filomena Pannunzio. He attended Tooele schools and later joined the U.S. Navy. He was discharged after honorable service. He then became an employee of the Tooele Army Depot where he retired as a Quality Control Specialist after 37 years. Returning from the Navy, Rudy began "Hanging Out" at Tate's Confectionary where he began flirting with a beautiful young gal by the name of Josie Porter. After a sweet courtship they were married in Elko, Nevada on September 25, 1950. They were married for 53 years. Into that union were born five beautiful daughters: Kathleen, Jolene, Margene, Christine and Shaun Marie. During his lifetime Rudy enjoyed hunting with his brothers, family and nephews in White Pine/Middle Canyon. After buying his "Rig" consisting of a truck, camper and boat, he enjoyed many years of camping, fishing and boating with his family. Rudy's most favorite hobby was taking care of his home and yard. He kept an immaculate yard with his lawn being his pride and joy. He hand sprinkled countless hours each day never wanting an automatic sprinkling system. He was the system! He loved gardening and his family and neighbors enjoyed the fruits of his labor: the biggest and best tasting tomatoes in Newtown!. Weeds never stood a chance in Rudy's yard as he was there waiting to pluck them as soon as they appeared. He loved his red Honda Trail 90 and could be seen cruising the streets of Tooele. Rudy was a member of St. Marguerite's Parish and a lifelong member of the Tooele Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his loving wife Josie; his daughters: Kathleen (Scott) Dunn, Jolene Stalliviere, Margene (Randy) Wing, Christine (David) Eyre and Shaun Marie (Jason) Meyer; his beautiful grandchildren: Aimee (John) York, Lori (Miles) Lawrence, Stacie Dunn; Rusti, Trevor and Justin Stalliviere; Marcus, Ashley, and Jenny Wing; Michael, Matt, Tyler and Ryan Eyre; Colby and Nicholas Meyer; great-grandchildren: Kaisha, Keri-anne, Kameron and Kennedi York and Brianna Eyre. He is also survived by his brother Lewis (Shirley) Pannunzio and many nieces and nephews whom he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lucian, Henry, Fred and his beloved sister Mary.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 So. Main St., Tooele. A viewing will be held on Wed., March 31st from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Tate Mortuary and 9:30- 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.
